She's a friend of the animals (something we haven't got in common) and she becomes a super hero when it comes to defend people. He's really fat and he looks like the cat in Alice In Wonderland. Diane is a Sex And The City addict ! She's a really good photographer. Her laughter is extraordinary ! New York is her favorite city, but she wants to live in Paris in the future. With her brown hair, I could compare her with Scarlett O'hara but I shall not make it. Tuesday 19 October Against swine flu : a suit or a vaccine? The influenza arrived in Japan in May. The Health Ministry said that that flu has already killed 27 Japanese and on Monday 12, the authorities took the decision to start swine flu vaccinations, they wanted to vaccinate half the population. For the moment with a limited stock only 1.18 million people can be vaccinated with a priority for pregnant women and people with chronic diseases. Vaccinations will start in early November. Babies and small children will be next in December. After a year of designing and testing a Japanese company is now selling a suit allegedly protecting against swine flu. Japan greets President Barack Obama for the first time

Barack Obama arrived in Japan last Friday on his first trip in Asia as president. He met Japan’s newly elected prime minister hoping to consolidate their alliance and especially to secure Japanese support in the Afghan war.

The Japanese government promised to stop their refueling missions in the Indian ocean but announced a new $5 billion aid plan for Afghanistan that focuses on the civilian sector, including agricultural support and strengthening law and order.

Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama and Obama discussed global warming during Friday’s summit talks and decided to cooperate in clean energy technology and to join their research in environmental and energy fields. "I think it was very important that the central themes of our talks were dealing with global warming and nuclear disarmament," the prime minister said. The reduction of nuclear weapons was also approached and the leaders both confirmed their intention to cooperate for a successful review conference for the Nuclear Non-proliferation Treaty.

The question of relocating US Marine bases also raised a controversy as the two countries conflict on where to relocate the 47,000 American soldiers that the government promised to accommodate in 2006. What’s more on last Sunday 20,000 protesters denounced the presence of American troops in Japan. It’s in this tense climate that PM Hatomaya agreed to honor his promise.

Le Japon accueille le président Obama pour la première fois

Barack Obama est arrivé au Japon vendredi 13 novembre commençant ainsi son premier voyage en Asie en tant que président. Il a rencontré le nouveau premier ministre (élu en août) espérant consolider l’alliance des deux pays et notamment s’assurer du soutien du Japon dans la guerre en Afghanistan. En effet le gouvernement japonais a promis l’arrêt de sa mission de distribution de pétrole dans l’Océan Indien mais a tout de même annoncé un plan d’aide pour les Afghans de 5 milliards de dollars, centré sur le secteur civil avec un soutien agricole et le renforcement de la loi et de l’ordre.

Le premier ministre Yukio Hatomaya et Obama ont également abordé le problème du réchauffement planétaire pendant le sommet de vendredi et ont décidé de coopérer dans les technologies d’énergie propre et d’unir leurs recherches dans les domaines environnementaux et énergétiques. «Je pense que c’était très important que les thèmes centraux du débat abordent le réchauffement planétaire et le désarmement nucléaire » a déclaré le premier ministre. La réduction des armes nucléaires a donc aussi été abordée et les deux dirigeants ont confirmé leur intention de coopérer pour le succès de la conférence de révision du traité de non-prolifération nucléaire.

La question du déplacement des bases américaines a également soulevé une polémique car les deux pays ne s’accordent pas sur le lieu où seront déplacés les 47000 soldats américains que le gouvernement a promis d’héberger en 2006. De plus dimanche 8 novembre une manifestation contre la présence des troupes américaines a réuni plus de 20 000 personnes. C’est dans ce climat tendu qu’Hatomaya, le premier ministre a accepté lundi 16 novembre d’honorer cet accord.

Japanese flyers asked to “board lighter”

The Japanese airline company ANA (All Nippon Airways) recently set up a new project inviting its passengers to use the restrooms before boarding. This is part of the company’s ecologic program which aims to reduce the carbon footprint of its flights by lightening them. The project includes also a lot of more regular programs, like recycling plastic bottles and paper cups or using lighter items in the cabin.

Although it could seem a bit surprising, ANA spokeswoman, Megumi Tezuka, said she was surprised by the attention the initiative just caught and regretted that only Japanese flyers were concerned. Actually, though the Japanese announcement for passengers is explicit asking them to use the restrooms before boarding, the English version is quite different only asking to "think about the earth and the sky above," but not mentioning what they could or should really do.

This new programs conveys a positive image of ANA in front of its principal rival Japan Airlines (JAL).So, while it waits for effective results next month, ANA trusts Japanese customers’ cooperation to help her becoming a greener airline.

Des passagers japonais priés d’embarquer léger

La compagnie aérienne ANA (All Nippon Airways) a récemment mis en place un nouveau projet invitant ses passagers à aller aux toilettes avant d’embarquer. Cela fait partie d’un programme écologique créé par la compagnie dans le but de réduire l’empreinte carbone (ou volume de CO² émis) de ses vols en les allégeant. Le programme comprend également d’autres procédures plus habituelles comme le recyclage des bouteilles en plastique et des verres en carton ou encore l’usage d’objets et de matières plus légers en cabine.

Bien que l’initiative paraisse surprenante, la porte parole d’ANA, Megumi Tezuka, se déclare surprise par l’attention qu’elle a suscitée et dit regretter que seuls les passagers japonais soient concernés. En effet, alors que la vidéo japonaise invite explicitement les passagers à aller aux toilettes avant d’embarquer, la version anglaise les invite plutôt à «penser à la planète et au ciel au-dessus d’eux » sans mentionner ce qu’ils pourraient ou devraient faire.

Ce nouveau programme communique une image positive d’ANA face à son principal concurrent Japan Airlines (JAL). Ainsi, en attente de résultats efficaces le mois prochain, ANA fait confiance à ses clients pour l’aider à devenir une compagnie aérienne plus « verte ».
