Japanese police officers give martial arts classes to tourists in order to build trust and improve their English.
This initiative was introduced in the city of Matsue, north of Hiroshima.
As of March, tourists will be invited to spend an hour learning the principles of judo and kendo - a martial art performed with bamboo swords.
They'll be taught by police officers who hold black belts in these combat sports and it's hoped that the instructors will be able to exchange in English.
The officers say their martial arts classes are part of a program to make the city safer and attract more tourists.
Their website says participants will need to make sure they have accident insurance just in case and notes that equipment can be borrowed at the police station.
